Today, some fluids (gas or liquid) are very aggressive. They can cause surface cracking, elasticity loss, compression set and fragility to your seal, in conclusion: the sealing loss.
Créat has the solution: the FFKM
FFKM Characteristics
The FFKM (perfluoroelastomer) is used where FKM is reaching its limits. Through fluorine in its composition, FFKM has an improved resistance to high temperatures (up to 300°C / 570°F) and an almost universal chemical compatibility (except for fluorinated products like freons).
Créat proposes it only when the application requires it because it is by far the most expansive elastomer.
Therefore, the FFKM has a volume swelling lower than 10% for the following fluids:
- Inorganic acids
- Organic acids
- Alkalines
- Amines (at 20°C / 69°F)
- Steam
- Ketones
- Esters
- Ethers
- Aldehydes
- Alcohols
- Hydrocarbons
- Acid gases
- Lubricants
In this way, thanks to FFKM:
- Seal’s lifespan is longer than other elastomers
- Sealing performances are clearly improved
- Processes contamination is reduced
- High temperatures stability is improved
- Parts have a better quality
FFKM main applications
FFKM is mainly used in hostile environments (aggressive chemical environments and high temperatures).
- Chemistry / Petro-chemistry
- High temperatures water steam
- Dye / Paint
- Aeronautics / Aerospace
Créat’s products which can be made in FFKM
Créat makes O-rings, drawing-parts, flat seals, … in FFKM 80 sh (black) for hostile environments applications (chemical or thermal).
